Coding Club Hurst Green
At Hurst Green, we are always looking at ways we can make learning more immersive. We have recently improved the technology we have available at school and have invested in a lot of coding equipment to enhance the learning.
On Friday, we invited our digital leaders to come and test the products, with a view to starting a before-school coding club. Although the children may view it initially as playing with toys, there is a great deal more than just playing involved – what they are actually doing is learning to code.
The Harry Potter wand is powered by a circuit board that actually tracks the children’s movement and direction of the wand to perform spells.
The children will be using coding software to associate different wand actions to make them perform in exactly the way they want.
For more information on the wand, please watch the following video:
The Sphero Minis will use what the children have learnt in scratch and allow them to bring their ideas to life.
Children will be able to use ramps and make mazes – watch this space for more information and examples!
A very basic version of the code can be seen here:
Again, the coding is very simple and children will pick it up quickly.
We also have two kano kits functional as well
The following form will go directly to Mr Winter to allow a qucik response
