20 March 2014
Dear Parents/Carers
As you will be aware from the media, teacher trade unions will be taking industrial action on Wednesday 26 March 2014. I was informed yesterday that this will impact on Hurst Green.
The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the country.
The decision to close school to particular year groups or classes is never taken lightly, but in this instance where the staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I will have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well being of all pupils.
We are aware that class closures are an inconvenience to parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the likely impact of the action on this school.
As a result of the lawful industrial action, Hurst Green Primary School will be OPEN to the following classes only on Wednesday 26 March 2014:-
1H – Miss Hitchins
1W – Miss Williams
2HW – Mrs Hayward
4CW – Mrs Woodhouse
5J – Mrs Jewkes
5S – Mr South
6A – Mr Ashton
6H – Miss Harris
For all other classes, school will be closed.
In making this decision consideration has been given to causing as little disruption as possible to the education of the children. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Yours sincerely
J Bathurst
Headteacher
