Pupil Premium at Hurst Green Primary School

At Hurst Green Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to reach their full potential. This is where the Pupil Premium grant comes in - a vital source of funding that allows us to provide additional support and resources for our pupils who need it most.

    What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is a government grant that is allocated to schools to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This includes pupils who are eligible for free school meals, children who have been looked after by the local authority, and those from service families. The funding is designed to help these children overcome any barriers to learning and achievement, ensuring they receive a well-rounded and enriching education.

    How to Apply

If you believe your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium, we encourage you to speak with our Pupil Premium Lead, Mrs. Webb. She will be happy to guide you through the application process and ensure your child receives the support they need.

    Benefits of Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium grant allows us to offer a range of additional support and opportunities for our eligible pupils, including:

    • Targeted academic support: Providing small group tuition, one-to-one interventions, and tailored learning programmes to help close any gaps in learning.
    • Enrichment activities: Funding for educational trips, after-school clubs, and extracurricular experiences that broaden horizons and develop cultural capital.
    • Pastoral care: Ensuring our children's social, emotional, and mental well-being needs are met through counselling, mentoring, and family support.
    • Improving attendance: Working closely with families to improve attendance and punctuality, removing any barriers to regular school attendance.

How We Use the Pupil Premium

At Hurst Green Primary School, we take a holistic approach to supporting our Pupil Premium children. Our Pupil Premium Strategy, which is reviewed annually, outlines how we use the funding to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of our pupils. This includes investing in high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and a range of enrichment opportunities that align with our core values of respect, compassion, equity, aspiration, collaboration, and responsibility.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our Pupil Premium provision, please don't hesitate to contact our Pupil Premium Lead, Mrs. Webb.
