We had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day on the 5th March 2026. Our day began with a whole school parade of our fantastic costumes and PJ's. We then came back to class and joined a live session called 'The Footy and Booky Quiz 2026' hosted by the National Literacy Trust. We got some amazing scores on the quiz and learnt a lot about both books and football! We also learnt more about one of our reading spine authors – Maisie Chan. The children completed author profiles about her and looked at the common themes that linked her books and writing style. In the afternoon, we made reading pledges for the remainder of the year and completed a book review about a book of choice. We loved celebrating all things reading and cannot wait to do it again next year!

In DT, we have been designing a suitable container to transport Roman pizza over the bumpy Celtic roads. We made and decorated our pizza boxes and then made individual pizzas to test them.

Year 4 have had a fantastic start to the year, diving into a wide range of exciting learning!
In Art, we explored tint and shade to create striking Roman shield designs, linking beautifully with our History topic on the rise of the Roman Empire. We've investigated how the Roman army became so powerful, compared forts to Celtic settlements, and discovered what the Romans gained from their conquests.
In Science, we've been busy uncovering the secrets of the water cycle, building our confidence with key concepts like condensation and precipitation.
Our Maths lessons have seen brilliant effort and progress in place value, while in English, we've launched into our "I Am a Clever Writer" with enthusiasm and creativity.
On the sports field, our tag rugby skills have come on leaps and bounds, and in Dance, we’ve choreographed a thrilling James Bond-themed routine, using canon and musical pulse to bring our moves to life. What a busy and brilliant start everybody!
