Here is our Autumn Term Newsletter which gives some information about what we will be learning about this term.
Our topic for the Autumn term is a history topic about toys. Our BIG question is: How are the toys of today different from toys of the past? Our knowledge organiser has more information about the key facts and vocabulary we will be learning about.
During our first half-term in Year 1 we take time to settle in and recap our phonics learning from EYFS, including phase 2 and 3 sounds, phase 4 consonant groups and reading longer words by chunking up. We will also recap all the tricky words that were taught in EYFS. Towards the end of the half-term, we will be starting our new learning with some phase 5 graphemes. Phase 5 is when we learn alternate graphemes (ways of writing) for phonemes (sounds) that we already know from phase 2 and 3.
